Get Your Participation Passport Today!

 

Bring your participation passport to all activities you attend, have it signed by the facilitator, and your on your way to making a positive impact on your child's education—and towards receiving recognition for your efforts.

 

Family U has different levels of participation tiers for parent engagement. We look forward to all Family U participants going through all tiers.

 

At the end of the passport cycle, turn it in to the Community Liaison or school office for a special recognition—you deserve it! 

 

Participation Tiers

 

Participation Certificate

 

Recognition for attending 12 workshops within a single school year. Certificate given at existing student assembly at spring trimester awards.

 

Family U Shirt

 

One school year of consistent participation in workshops and school committees. The Family U shirts are presented at the annual volunteer breakfast.

 

Family U Pin

 

Recognition given to parents for establishing community partnerships or writing a grant to fund student programs.

 

Family U Plaque

 

After five consecutive years of consistent school involvement, members receive a Family U plaque which is awarded at annual volunteer breakfast.

Family University is LESD's parent engagement program created to empower parents to get involved in their child's education and at their schools. FamilyU (as we refer to this program in our district) recognizes you for your volunteering efforts and attending workshops—not just at our school, but at any school in the district!

 

All families are welcome at all of our schools—this isn't simply a catchphrase, it's a goal we strive to make into a reality. Through FamilyU we aim to create a genuine connection with LESD families by building capacity in our parents to share their voice and become advocates for their child's education.

Family University offers workshops and classes to empower our families to learn and grow with your students. Topics include math, literacy, ESL, technology, and many more! In addition to workshops and classes, as a Family University member—you can take your involvement to the next level by participating in any of the following committees and activities:

Family University was piloted at Anderson Elementary School in the 2017-18 school year. Due to its positive response, it is being expanded and implemented district-wide in the 2018-19 school year.
