Superintendent Dr. Castro has made it a practice to step into the roles of staff members across the district in order to better understand their daily responsibilities and experience their work firsthand.
This year, she selected two different roles to shadow, one of which was Tony’s role as a valued member of our Maintenance and Operations (M&O) team.

We are proud to celebrate an incredible achievement for Lawndale Elementary School District, as three of our schools were honored through the California Schools Recognition Program and formally recognized on April 24, 2026, at the annual California Department of Education celebration in Anaheim.

Our incredible cheer teams gave it their all at RAP’s first-ever Cheer Competition. The event brought together students from across the district for a spirited showcase of talent, teamwork, and school pride, with all teams competing in three exciting rounds of performance.

The annual Lawndale Parade & Extravaganza, held on April 25, 2026, brought the community together in a vibrant celebration of school pride and district-wide collaboration. From our youngest preschoolers to students in 8th grade, the event showcased the energy and dedication that define Lawndale Elementary School District.

Our Friendship Clubs at Jane Addams Middle School and William Anderson Elementary School had the honor of welcoming district representative Ms. Ara An from the office of Los Angeles County Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell. During the visit, Ms. Ara An recognized our students for their participation and commitment to creating inclusive environments on campus.

Roosevelt Elementary School in Lawndale, California, recently celebrated the unveiling of a vibrant new collaborative mural adjacent to the school library.
The mural, a stunning reflection of student voice and creativity, was created by renowned artist Stephanie Mercado in partnership with nearly 70 fifth-grade students through ESMoA STARTlab, a free arts education program offered by ESMoA in collaboration with Lawndale Elementary School District libraries.

Jane Addams Middle School and Will Rogers Middle School were proudly recognized by the City of Lawndale City Council for their outstanding achievement in being named California Distinguished Schools.
