The purpose of the after school program is to support students success in school by providing academic support and enrichment opportunities.  The ASES after school program was never intended to be a drop-in or child care program.  The legislature determined that regular attendance would serve as the measure for demonstrating compliance with the legislation’s purpose (EC Section 8483(a)(1), intent (EC Section 8483(a)(2), and criteria for ongoing program funding (EC Section 8483.7(a)(1)(A).  Hence, Before & After school attendance is very important to fulfill the requirements of the grant.

The ASES Universal Grant was created under the provisions of the EC sections 8482-8482.55(d) to provide opportunities for local educational agencies (LEAs), for the purposes of this grant award referred to as the grantee, to establish programs that are based on local needs.  The programs are created through partnerships between schools and local community resources, and must meet program compliance requirements.

Yes, students may be released for early dismissal pending that the reason meets the early release policy guidelines and is approved by the Program Supervisor.  The early release form can be obtained through the RAP site office.  Early release may not occur on a daily basis.
