Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

At Lawndale Elementary School District, we believe that fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive school culture is essential to student success. Through our district-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework, we create learning environments where every student feels respected, valued, and connected.

PBIS is a proactive approach that teaches, models, and reinforces positive behavior expectations across all school settings.  PBIS emphasizes prevention, skill-building, and positive relationships. Students are taught expectations for positive behavior and are recognized for demonstrating responsibility, respect, kindness, and integrity in their daily interactions.

Building a positive school culture is a shared responsibility. Families, educators, support staff, and students work together to create environments where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Each school develops its own PBIS identity and practices while aligning with district-wide commitments to safety, belonging, and student success.

Through PBIS, we:
