About Preschool

The Lawndale State Preschool program offers a high-quality, developmentally appropriate curriculum, which promotes best practices in early childhood education. Our program is committed to addressing the emotional, social, physical, and cognitive needs of each child in our care, while fostering the language development skills necessary for reading, writing, math, discussing ideas, and following directions. We help children develop independence and self-esteem, an essential life skill.  Most importantly, your child’s early childhood experience is designed to prepare them for kindergarten and beyond!

Our Philosophy

The preschool program philosophy is that all students should be provided an opportunity to quality preschool services. Families will benefit from the various opportunities to become involve and engaged in their child’s education and students will develop a love for learning. Children will develop skills through developmentally appropriate planned activities as well as through inquiry, motivation, exploration and hands- on. Children’s abilities and skills are recognized and supported through various learning experiences and activities which foster the cognitive, physical and social and emotional growth and development of all students.

We believe that working as a team and in collaboration with parents/guardians, we can make a significant difference in the lives of children as we prepare them for kindergarten, and beyond!

Our Mission

The mission of Lawndale State Preschool is to provide a high-quality, culturally diverse early childhood education program in a safe and nurturing environment that’s conducive to learning. The Lawndale Preschool Program fosters and supports the social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development of preschool children while building on the strengths of each student.

Our Teachers

Our teachers are certified in Child Development by both the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and the High/Scope Educational Research Foundation. High/Scope is a quality approach to early childhood care and education which has been shaped and developed by research and practice for over 50 years. The central belief of High/Scope is that children construct their own learning by doing and being actively involved in working with materials, people, and ideas. Our teaching staff is also trained in the California Desired Results System and receive continuous professional development throughout the school year.
