Thank you for considering Lawndale Elementary School District (LESD). Your student is considered a new student if they are not currently enrolled in a LESD school, or if they are transitioning from preschool into transitional kindergarten (TK) or kindergarten.

Please ensure that all required forms are completed to help us ensure a smooth enrollment process. We also encourage you to review the Parent - Student Handbook for important information regarding our policies and procedures. If you have any questions about enrollment, please contact your home school directly. During the summer break, please contact the district at (310) 973-1300 or email enrollment@lawndalesd.net.

Dual Immersion in Spanish Application

Join our coveted Dual Immersion in Spanish Program (DI) that has been shown to help students become biliterate, improve their cross-cultural understanding, and expand their cognitive skills! The program is offered in kindergarten through eighth grade! To help determine if DI is a good fit for your student, LESD offers a DI Transitional Kindergarten class. After the completion of the class, students are invited to apply to enter the DI program in kindergarten.

Application Period: February 1 - 28, 2026

Program Application:

Step 1 (All Applicants): Submit the Dual Immersion application within the application period!

TK/Kinder 2026-27 Dual Immersion Application

If your student is currently enrolled in kindergarten through eighth grade, please submit the Late Entry Application.

Step 2 (Only New LESD Students): Submit the 2026-27 New Student Registration or Permit Application (if you reside outside our district).  You must select your "Home School" when applying.  If accepted into the DI program, the district will transfer your information to the DI school. Students currently enrolled in LESD's TK-7th grade should skip this step.

 

Early Childhood Education Enrollment

At Lawndale, we offer various FREE early childhood education programs to best fit your child's needs! We offer Transitional Kindergarten, the Lawndale Early Advantage Program (LEAP) Peer Partner Program, and State Preschool

Transitional Kindergarten (TK)

 (Ages 4-5)

Transitional Kindergarten supports the transition between preschool age and kindergarten, providing children with a strong foundation for their educational journey. Full-time classes are available at all elementary sites.
 

To apply, submit the New Student Registration or Permit Application (if you reside outside our district).

 

 

 

 

Lawndale Early Advantage (LEAP)

 (Ages 3-4)

The LEAP Peer Partner Program offers a unique opportunity for typically developing students known as Peer Partners who serve as models for our special education students. Students attend part-time with an opportunity for full-time based on age and availability.
 
To apply, submit the LESD Peer Partner Application.

General LEAP students are placed by the Southwest SELPA

Lawndale State Preschool

 (Ages 2-5)

State Preschool offers part-time and full-time classes for ages 3-5. Classes are located at the following Lawndale campuses: Anderson, Carson, Green, Mitchell, and Twain. The program is open to all qualifying students within the South Bay! 
 

Limited space is also available for our part-time 2-year-old classes at our Carson campus!

FREE Before and After School Program-R.A.P.

Realizing Amazing Potential (R.A.P.) is the district’s award-winning before- and after-school program that expands and enhances classroom instruction by offering coding and robotics, team building, arts, gardening, music, sports, and more. If you are newly enrolled, please contact your school site to enroll in R.A.P. If you are entering for the 2026–27 school year, the application will be available during the summer prior to the start of school.
