Harvest of the Month

Previously, students would sample and learn about a fruit or vegetable that is in season each month. Our Wellness Program would arrange monthly recess and lunch taste tests at each school to expose students to the selected fruit or veggie and to encourage them to make healthier choices. The cafeteria would then serve that item on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month.

Due to the pandemic, we put a pause on the program and brought it back during our bulk meal distributions in the spring of this year. With the return to in person school, we plan to bring the program back. Currently, we're working with local farmers to source in season fruits and vegetables which we'll offer twice a month during lunch. The anticipated start date is October 2021, and the produce items are yet to be announced.
