The African American Parent Advisory Council (AAPAC) serves as a vital platform for our African American/Black families to share their ideas and perspectives with the district, working together to address the needs of our students. It also provides a space for parents to learn about district resources, policies, and programs. The council’s mission is to empower African American/Black families by equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to advocate for a high-quality education. AAPAC is committed to developing resources that help families actively support their children's academic success and social-emotional development, ensuring they are well-prepared for college and career pathways.
Why join AAPAC?
Research consistently shows that increased parent involvement leads to higher student academic achievement and overall well-being. Your perspective is essential in helping our district better serve African American students. By joining the AAPAC, you will have a platform to ensure your voice and experiences are heard. You will gain valuable insights into district operations and collaborate with fellow parents and district staff to develop strategies that enhance academic outcomes for African American students.
Our Commitment
In Lawndale Elementary School District (LESD), we are deeply committed to equity and ensuring that all students have access to the resources they need to succeed. By studying research and best practices, we are actively implementing strategies that promote both academic achievement and social-emotional well-being. Our dedication to equity drives us to continuously improve, ensuring that every student has the opportunities and support necessary to thrive.
