The District Parent Advisory Committee (DPAC) consists of parents and guardians who collaborate with the district’s administration to address issues impacting students and families. The committee offers recommendations on district policies and practices, ensuring that family perspectives are integrated into decision-making.
The DPAC plays a key role in providing valuable feedback on the Title I budget, which supports programs and services for low-income and underperforming student groups. It works with school-site committees to enhance communication between the district and families, advocate for educational improvements, and foster stronger community engagement and understanding of district initiatives.
All meetings are open to the community. Members and non-members are welcome.
How our Committees Work
Our advisory committees collaborate effectively to provide guidance on both school-level and district-level programs ensuring that parent and community perspectives are integrated into the entire decision making process:
- The School Site Council (SSC) works closely with the District Parent Advisory Committee (DPAC) on various related topics relating to our Title I budget and programs for low-income and underperforming student groups.
- The school site Community of Multilingual Families Committee (ELAC) partners with the District Community of Multilingual Families Committee (DELAC) to address issues relevant to multilingual learners.
We encourage you to actively participate in your school-level committees and expand your involvement by joining district-level committees as well. Your voice is vital in shaping our educational community and ensuring that it reflects the needs and aspirations of all families!
Role of the School Site Council (SSC)
SSC develops, annually reviews, and updates the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) for programs funded through the Consolidated Application Reporting System.
The SSC must recommend the SPSA to the local governing board for approval. Thus the role of the SSC is crucial to the success of the categorical programs a school may have.
The SSC must meet the composition requirements specified in EC 52852 unless granted a waiver from the State Board of Education (SBE).
SSC works at a school site level and works hand-in-hand with DPAC at the district level.
