Parent Information

Parents and Guardians are always welcome at Lawndale! Please see some of the ways that you can help out and be involved. 

Volunteering

Parents are encouraged to volunteer in their child’s classroom. Volunteering is a great opportunity to work with your child’s teacher and support your child’s education.

Please see below volunteer procedure and requirement:

  • A Volunteer Application can be obtained from the preschool office, your child’s teacher, or from the preschool website.
  • The application must be completed and submitted to the program director.
  • Provide a negative TB test or an XRAY (within a year).
  • Must be immunized with the following: Pertussis (Tdap), Measles (MMR) and Influenza (Flu shot/Opt-out option available). (Please note: Tdap & MMR, many of us have these vaccines already).
  • Background check/fingerprinting Live Scan will be conducted by the District Office/ Human Resources Department at no cost for parents
  • Must have a California ID or an ID outside of the US.
  • Must sign the volunteer application, provide the immunization record (with the required vaccinations), bring required ID, and contact the Preschool office for an appointment to begin the volunteering process.
  • All requirements are necessary, and clearance must be met prior to you beginning to volunteer.
  • Parent/Volunteers will be provided an orientation prior to beginning volunteer service.

Engagement

Parent conferences are held twice a year to share your child's strengths from the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) child assessment and the Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ). We regularly host parent education workshops through our Family University Parent Engagement program, and we encourage you to get involved and join our Parent Advisory Committee. 

Parent Advisory Committee (PAC)

Parent Advisory Committee, PAC is composed of one parent representative form each school site. Meetings are held four times per year. The purpose of PAC is to advise the program on issues related to services to families and children.
