Device Insurance Options

Device Responsibility

Students are responsible for the care of their devices, per the Distance Learning Technology Agreements. If a device is returned to the school with any damage, or is lost, the student will be responsible to pay for the loss or damage according to the pricing on this form.

Families may choose to purchase private insurance for the school devices. Insurance purchases are a personal agreement between the family and the insurance company. LESD is not a party to that agreement.

Loaner devices for Students with Insurance

While a student’s device is out for repair with an insurance company, the student will be allowed to borrow a loaner device from their school. Please note the LOANER MAY NOT BE COVERED BY INSURANCE and the student will be financially responsible for loss or damage to the loaner.

Device full replacement value: $531

Homeowners/Renters Insurance Policies: Families are encouraged to check with their existing homeowners or renters insurance company to see if their device is already covered for loss or damage under their existing policy.

Private Chromebook Insurance: Families are not required to purchase insurance and are welcome to purchase an insurance policy from any private provider.

For your convenience, LESD has partnered with School Device Coverage/U-PIC Insurance Services to provide an affordable insurance option. To process these repairs, families will return the devices to their home school and receive a loaner during the time their device is being repaired.

To purchase a policy, visit the School Device Coverage website or call 1-888-978-3515.
