Expanded Learning Opportunities Program ELOP

The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) provides funding for before & after school and summer school enrichment programs for Transitional Kindergarten through sixth grade.

"Expanded Learning" means before school, after school, summer, or intersession learning programs that focus on developing the academic, social emotional, and physical needs and interests of pupil through hands-on, engaging learning experiences. It is the intent of the Legislature that expanded learning programs are pupil-centered, results driven, include community partners, and complement, but do not replicate, learning activities in the regular school day and school year.

Realizing Amazing Potential (RAP) is a braided multi-funded program. While the ASES and ELO-P are funded separately they promote and embrace the same expectations and goals set forth by the California Department of Education - Expanded Day Learning standards of quality.

Free enrollment open to all Lawndale Elementary School District students (TK-6th).

Parents must complete a RAP application. 

• Before School Program starting at 6:45am at all school sites, with the exception of Addams Middle School.
• After School Program starting at bell dismissal until 6:00pm.
• A daily nutritious meal.
• Summer Session for 6-weeks, 9 hours each day.

Students in grades TK - 6th who attend Lawndale Elementary School District. While the program is offered to all, priority enrollment is given to foster or homeless youth and students who have committed to participating consistently. After priority enrollment, students in grades TK - 6th grade are taken on a first-come-first-served basis. 

Our Early Release Policy permits students who participate in the RAP Program to leave early for a variety of reasons. Students may be released for early dismissal pending that the reason meets the early release policy guidelines and is approved by the Program Supervisor.  The early release form can be obtained through the RAP site office and online. 

The Early Release Policy allows for students to be dismissed at 4:30pm - 4:45pm with the completion of an Early Release Form, and proactive communication with the Program Supervisor prior to the start of program.

Being present during the Expanded Day Learning Program and maintaining consistent attendance ensures your child will receive the maximum exposure and outcomes for the RAP Program. 

The RAP Early Release Policy is designed to support the needs of our families and to create reasonable accommodations, flexibility and maintain high quality programming. Abuse of said policies can lead to program dismissal and is at the discretion of the Program Manager and Director.

The purpose of Early Release and Late Arrival policies are to identify the reasons as to why students are leaving before the end of the after school program or arriving late to the before school program.

Expanded Learning activities are based on the needs of the site, the individual interest of the students and the California Department of Education - Expanded Day Learning goals and standards. Activities may include:
